The course provides the necessary skills for designing comfortable and sustainable environments. It starts from the correct use of energy-efficiency and systematic environmental renewal of existing spaces, in order to consciously direct the client towards technological choices, improve energy performance and raise the level of perceived and measurable comfort.
Provide the necessary skills for assessing of the environmental parameters influencing indoor well-being;
Offer professional training on the analysis of energy balance terms with the aim of identifying cost-effective opportunities for reducing energy consumption;
Gain a better understanding of the characteristics of insulating materials, natural and otherwise;
Illustrate the techniques of energy efficiency and environmental renewal of building units through in-depth thematic studies;
Equip candidates with the tools for managing the redevelopment work up to the implementation phase.
Didactic Plan
The course addresses the following themes:
The basic principles for obtaining increased indoor comfort: thermo-hygrometric comfort; environmental hygiene and indoor air exchange; principles of acoustics; design solutions; overview of controlled mechanical ventilation systems; the influence of light and colour in indoor environments;
The containment of energy consumption: the condition of the building heritage; renewable sources of supply; legislation; individual heat accounting and applicable tax benefits;
Design principles in low energy renowal: thermal insulation strategies; review of insulating materials; internal thermal insulation by means of natural and hygroscopic materials; mitigation of thermal bridges; passive strategies for thermal protection in summer;
Changes to the thermal envelope: techniques for installing an insulation system; technical characteristics of opaque construction elements; performance requirements for windows and doors; solar screens; overview of non-invasive analytical tests;
Electrical systems and home automation systems: overview of thermal and electrical energy control systems (from the network, from a renewable source and from accumulation) with the aim of implementing the most efficient energy profile for the desired level of comfort;
Thermal plants: overview of heat emission systems and air conditioning system.
