Design the Italian way: methodology and project tools

Course

The course was held in POLI.design headquarters in Milan. Throughout the workshop, the participants had the possibility to achieve a panoramic view of the following fields:

• THEORY What is Design: the Italian Design System and its actors – The course began with a theoretical introduction in which the Italian Design System and in particular Milan as the World Design Capital was presented through a brief historical overview of famous past and present designers and of the actual actors of the Italian Design System.
• VISITS OF ECCELLENCE Milan: Design Capital – During the week the participants had the opportunity to visit emblematic sites, showrooms and company museums in Milan.
• PRACTICE Design thinking: project tools and pathways – The practical part of the workshop was based on a project brief presented in order to guide the students through a real design process. The participants developed, individually and in teams, a Visual Communication Project.
