24H WORLDWIDE DESIGN CONVERSATIONS.

It is scheduled for June 23, 2021, starting at 9:30 a.m., the second edition of 24H Worldwide Design Conversations: a continuous 24-hour live broadcast dedicated to the culture of the project, oriented towards reflection on design practice changes. As contemporary society is facing new global challenges, new generations have the responsibility to bring forward important changes and pick out good practices for the future. This year it will be the new generation of designers and researchers, who can and must play a leading role in the ongoing transformation, to be the protagonists and have a say during this day of design talks.

The event, promoted by the Polimi Design System, which includes the Department of Design, School of Design and POLI.design, will be articulated through half-hour sessions, during which one host of the Polimi Design System will dialogue with an international guest. 48 guests from all over the world will develop their talks around the concept of “Designing in an era of uncertainty” to investigate the role, conditions and future expectations of young designers and researchers. The Polimi Design System hosts will activate each conversation around a short statement proposed by each guest and addressed to the “surfers” of the near future, the new generation of designers and researchers.

The result will be a logbook with short statements, a collection of suggestions and advice for a New Design Era, annotated and discussed during a 24-hour journey around the world, sailing in the ‘sea of Design’. We are not alone in an age of uncertainty: “no designer is an island“.
