Bio

Got a master degree in Psychology (2001) at the University of Padova, and Ph.D. in Neuroscience (2010) at the University of Parma under the supervision of Prof. Giacomo Rizzolatti. Her post- doc activity was spent first at the University of Parma, and subsequently at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) until 2015. Since 2016, she is a fixed-term researcher at the Institute of Neuroscience of the CNR in Parma Research Unit.

Her research activity is centered on the study of the human motor system, and in particular on the role that via mirror mechanism it plays in understanding actions and intentions of others across childhood and adulthood. These research topics were investigated through multimodal approaches including behavioral (motor testing and kinematic tracking systems), electrophysiological (EMG), neurophysiological (EEG and fMRI) measurement techniques as well as perturbational methods (TMS). Since 2007 her research has focused on the evaluation of the motor system in autistic children during tasks requiring the planning, execution and observation of intentional actions. These studies contributed evidence of how these neural processes are deficient in autistic individuals, and may underlie some of the prevalent symptoms of this disorder. Since 2014 she is responsible of the General Psychology course at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
